I am newbie as far as camcorders are concerned. Right now I sit in front of a Sony DCR-VX1000E (miniDV-based) which is connected to my MacBook via Firewire.
What I want is to record the Sony's video/audio signal directly to my MacBook's harddisk instead of the miniDV cassette.
So I installed iMovie (6.0.1), created a new project (tried "DV" and "MPEG-4") and hit the "Import" button. Recording started an all seemed to work fine until after about 3-4 minutes recording suddenly stopped.
So now I have a 3-4 minutes clip in iMovie which is fine ... but nevertheless only 3-4 minutes long. What I want one clip with 45-60 minutes without having to use the miniDV.
I have searched discussions.apple.com and this seems a known problem. But actually I have not found any workarounds or other hints.
