OSX burning software (iTunes, Finder, and Disk Utility) is always
installed. DVD Player may not be installed if there is no internal
drive that can read DVDs. VLC should be able to play DVDs from
external drives, but your computer may be too slow.

Tiger and Leopard will handle most burners, but 10.3.9 will need
PatchBurn for non-Apple drives.
