>How much of your drive space do the newsgroups take?

They only take up about 32k when trimmed to 150-200 messages. Unfortunately sometimes during heavy traffic periods the sucker I use will pull down 500 or more messages. My system then automatically trims them to the assigned message amounts killing off the earlier messages.

I guess most of your see that I added 6 new groups to the Mac Area last night. 2 don't appear to be working but they are properly done I will have to log on with another news program and check to make sure they are still active.

TF Net will add a dozen groups more and I am not sure how much traffic but they will come trimmed to no more than 200 messages a subject. They feature Telefinder oriented subjects exclusively, but crossover into other areas. It is a good way to learn more about how to use the system. They at least are visited by users who are active on Telefinder BBS's so the community is much smaller, but it is also worldwide.

The only problem with deleting the dups is that while it will free up space it will be on the UD drive which is separate from the drive that supports the conferences. I of course could use the space by moving utilities etc. from the drive that houses the conferences over to the ud drive. I really wanted to keep the UDs only on that drive, though. Messages fragment the hell out of whatever drive they reside on. Keeping the UD areas safer seems logical to me. I have to do about 3 times more maintenance on the base drive to keep it in good shape with all of the user files, conferences etc. residing on it. It fragments up and I frequently run Norton Repair on it to keep it in good shape. I Speed Disk it at least monthly.
