Can you use this in any Web page. Excuse my confusion I have never used a counter put I am trying to put one in a Web page now. Also what if your homepage ext. is different than spml?

Your page has to have the .spml extension for the spml commands to work. The system uses internet config to let it know how to treat that type of file ending. html endings will not work.

Presently WorldSpice does not have spml support but it likely is built into the server software. They too have to turn it on. I have already petitioned Paul to consider turning it on. It may work on some of the other service providers depending on what server software they are running and if they have it turned on. You can try a simple command like the count command and send up your page to see if it functions. That is how I found out that WSpice doesn't support it. It works great on your homepages on the headgap though. Do remember that the spml ending is required.
