If you want a group to grow you have to advertise. All it takes is someone posting a message on as many local bbses as possible. You should include a planned topic or two so that you have something that most people will be interested in. For example, our next meeting we will cover the latest version of Sam 4.5 Virus Protection Software, and perhaps as a second subject one of the latest games.
You have to catch peoples interests and tell them what the benefits are if you want them to participate. You also need to give them early notice and a follow up the night before.
Someone might volunteer to do up a business card to place in any of local computer stores with our web address etc. The library also has Link and you need someone to volunteer to field calls and get the group listed. All this is free or low cost and it works.
