<<On a different note; Thanks for the MkLinux DR2! It is much faster than DR1. I have finally gotten RPM to work so I should be able to get some software running on it. I've already gotten xtetris, xsolitare and Maelstrom to work.

Maelstrom on MkLinux looks and plays exactly like the Mac version. It only played slightly faster than it did on my mac. The noticable speed difference comes when you run multiple copies at the same time. On my machine, you can run three games of Maelstrom at the same time without any noticable drop in speed. If you run five, they all run at about the same speed as one does on an LCII.

Jason, if you want me to help you get MkLinux and some software running let me know!

Thanks for the offer! I'm sure I'd like to install this and get it working, but right now I have somewhat limited resources. I really need a new HD before I try messing with that again. It was a pain to reformat an HD (the one with all my graphics programs on it) into the necessary partitions, and I don't know if it even worked properly anyway. Part of the problem is the formatting utilities: you have to have an Apple OEM'ed HD for their program to work well, and none of the other programs I have (FWB HDToolkit, Formatter One Pro) will create a Unix-type partition.

Even when I got it installed, I couldn't get the X-windowing system to work. Kept giving me an error about no X-server being available. Weird. Basically useless w/o X-Windows as far as I can tell. I may try again, but its not likely to be soon, unless there's a lot of real benefit to it. Maybe when the next big version comes out (with serial/PPP functions so we can run on the internet with it), but until then, who knows. I'd definitely like to get it going at some point. At the next meeting, you need to show us all how it works.

Later,
Jason
