I regret not being able to make the meeting. As to not seeing old posts all you have to do it click on the button from list and back up a might. For example you could type in 130 and sneak back up on the subject covered. The only way any system can track each piece that you have read is to have a database with flags for every item on the system. Not too practical but not impossible. There are a few systems that do this. Telefinder does it by date and it is not by any means perfect.

It terms of a mail list, I think Michael was maintaining the one here. All you do is send email to VMUGM and everyone on the list gets a copy. It can forward mail to any legit mail address on this system or anywhere else on the net. I have 4 mail boxes and have all of them forwarded to one address. To learn more about mail forwarding and this system see the library as you can set this up for yourself. Ask Michael to update your address and try sending mail to VMUGM@headgap.com and see if you don't get the results you need.

If you would like access to the VMUGM account so you can check and update the mail lists let me know.

I did lose a few messages after I had my new system go down. That was the first time it had happened in 2 or 3 years. I run nightly tape backups and can almost always recover everything, up to what had happened that day. I had a bus problem with that new system that kept me from backing up properly. It ultimately killed the machine. Instead of one day lost I lost about 3. I also had a few fouled messages from the transferring of the system back and forth and they got cleaned out.

My new machine should be here this week and this weekend I will be trying it again. I hope to be a bit more cautious this time and will have double backups of everything and will not move the system until I am sure that the new system works 100%. I am hoping the reliability will be higher on the new machine. I have almost daily crashes at this point on the Quadra due to a bug in the Mac OS 7.5.x and this hardware. Fortunately I can monitor the system at home and work and autoreset when needed. I am looking forward to having a machine that runs weeks without a reset and a bit more horsepower with the PowerPC.
