Spider Island suspends MacOS development and support effective August 31, 1997
Irvine, CA---July 9, 1997---After taking a hard look at the adverse market conditions facing MacOS software developers, Spider Island Software, developer of the award winning TeleFinder Internet Server, announced it is shutting down development and support effective August 31, 1997.
"This isn't a fire sale or a Chapter 11 scenario," explained Rusty Tucker, president of Spider Island Software. "It's a business decision to exit with the least financial and operational damage to ourselves and our customers. A review of sales and market data indicates that success has capital requirements larger than we can provide." noted Tucker.
The company indicated that licensing for TeleFinder v5.5's source code, including it's high performance C++ communications library, a standalone web server, BBS and email servers are available in whole or in part to interested parties.
The TeleFinder v5.5 upgrade will ship next week to existing customers via Internet with the proviso of limited support. TeleFinder v5.5 combines powerful Web, E-Mail, and BBS servers to form the fastest and most completely integrated Internet communications server package available for the MacOS today.
