No they have an upgradeable processor slot, but that still doesn't make the memory interleaved. It will be much faster when upgraded, but it won't be as fast as the machines with a new motherboard. Hopefully, I'll be able to get a motherboard upgrade when I decide to get a new computer.

<<Also, in regards to things you wish your Mac would do faster....do you feel like the interface is awefully sluggish, relative to the speed of the machine? I know Aaron probably doesn't help, but even without it, there are occasional pauses for no apparent reason (even w/o any HD activity). This is the MAIN thing I'm looking forward to in Copland....completely native file system! Maybe the interface upgrade in the new update coming late this year will speed up the interface a bit too...>>

No the interface seems fine... considering that I went from a IIsi. Just when I try to do things like 3D rendering, file compression, and some games does it feel slow. Actually, the way I had my computer set-up the user interface in the Finder was fast on my IIsi. Just give the disk cache a lot of RAM to play with. I give it about 1.5 meg.

I was hesitated to install Aaron because I used to like keeping a small system folder (it helps keep conflicts down). But after using Aaron and Smooth Move for a while, I really like the way it makes my Mac look. There were a few things about Aaron I didn't like, such as the 3D icons. I just hacked them out... along with the zoom rectangles. Actually the Finder's zoom rectangle area still there, but they are so fast with Speed Doubler I can hardly see them.

I've heard some bad new in one of the Mac magazines. In a little section (they almost wanted to hide it), they mentioned some of the things Apple did to speed up the release of Copland by skipping on developement. The file manager will be native, but it won't be much faster than today's 68k manager. Poor algorithms I guess.
