I read in MacWorld Online an article in which they compared 18 different high-end Mac Clones in speed tests, strengths and weaknesses. The article was good, but here's the deal:

They stated that they've been using PowerWave processor cards (150Mhz) in their 8500 and 9500 machines w/o problems for months!!!!!

For some reason they said the 8500 and 9500 are compatible with the 604 PowerWave upgrade cards, and that the 7500 should be compatible with the PowerCurve upgrade cards (which have 120Mhz 601's on them). This makes NO sense, since the 8500 and 7500 motherboards are IDENTICAL. Obviously the 7500's can use the PowerWave upgrade cards, too! This is great news, to me. Reasons: a. It means Power Clone owners can be assured their card upgrades will be viable as long as the 7500/8500/9500's are, and b. You can get a 150Mhz processor upgrade for $659 (which is not much more than Apple's 120Mhz 604 upgrade).

This said, the article is not without flaws, so there may be some question to the validity of this info (although it does make sense). They stated that the PowerMac 7500's system bus runs at 33.3 Mhz. This is WRONG. The 7500's system bus runs at 50Mhz (which is faster than the 8500's system bus). The PCI bus, however runs at an asynchronous 33.3Mhz.
