For some reason they said the 8500 and 9500 are compatible with the 604 PowerWave upgrade cards, and that the 7500 should be compatible with the PowerCurve upgrade cards (which have 120Mhz 601's on them). This makes NO sense, since the 8500 and 7500 motherboards are IDENTICAL. Obviously the 7500's can use the PowerWave upgrade cards, too! This is great news, to me. Reasons: a. It means Power Clone owners can be assured their card upgrades will be viable as long as the 7500/8500/9500's are, and b. You can get a 150Mhz processor upgrade for $659 (which is not much more than Apple's 120Mhz 604 upgrade).

Well, actually the 8500 & 7500 motherboards are in fact different. The 8500 has better video-in, & it's got video-out on the motherboard. They're very similar, but not quite the same. Plus there's the slight fact that the 8500 has a PPC 604, whereas the 7500 has a PPC 601. I'm not sure if they built in 604 compatibility in the boot ROMs, and processor daughtrboard, but I wouldn't exactly count on it.
