A fellow 'lista had recently asked about X emulation on the Macintosh. There are 4 different solutions that I am aware of, 3 of which I've had experience with through time.
First, there is MI/X from MicroImages (www.microimages.com) which is freely downloadable from their website. It's a decent X server for the casual user, but it's certainly got rough edges and runs only in rooted mode. Can't beat the price, though. Look under "Free Stuff" on their site.
Second, there is Apple's own MacX 2.0. Previous versions were OK, but kind of slow, however, 2.0 has been excellent for me, and it is the X server I chose to use on a daily basis. I've got some minor gripes, but overall it's been excellent and lets me use my development tools on our UNIX boxes with the same ease as my old workstation. Now my Mac doesn't have to share desk space with the workstation which basically served only as an X server for me anyhow. I got my copy at the Cyberian Outpost (www.cybout.com) for about $140, but I've seen a rumor float that Apple may be releasing MacX for free sometime in the future.
Third is White Pine's eXodus. I used it a little in early '95, but not since then. It seemed pretty good, and has a few more features than MacX. Their website is www.wpine.com for more info or to download a demo, and Cyberian Outpost has it for $169. I don't know what other places may charge.
Finally, Tenon Intersystems has X Ten. It seems a bit more complex than the others as it comes with its own UNIX. I also think it's the most expensive at $350. It can be ordered right from Tenon at www.tenon.com.
I believe that all of the servers I mentioned are supporting X11R6 or better. My personal choice, as I mentioned is MacX.

If your non-support of Macintosh platforms is evidence of Disney's future policy, my wallet will no longer support Disney.

Our Mac-only non for profit agency needs to purchase Nonprofit Accounting software. It must be able to allocate funds across our different programs accounts. We recently purchased Institutional Data Systems, Inc. and have attempted to run it on Virtual PC and a Pentium machine we had lying around and it has been a disaster. We want a Mac solution. I have been the major proponent of our 100% switch over to macs and need a solution ASAP. I wrote to the list about two months ago concerning our church's windoze machine which cannot be shut off or it loses its mouse driver. Well, it happened again, and our tech man (who we have an exclusive contract with) was on vacation.
No problem--fortunately, I have templates for the publications that our church produces each week on my trusty Power Mac (about to be added to my new--read refurb--Duo 2300). So, I got what we needed for our worship bulletin, newsletter, newletter address labels, etc. pulled up and went to work (I let our secretary catch up on the filing this week). With the help of a 11 year old artist, we produced a new logo for our bulletin and newletter cover, and put out the masters a day early. The pastor approved them with one correction (added to the "Pastor's Notes" section in both:
"Special thanks to Chris Averill and Ed Foskey for their new cover art for the bulletins and newletter and for producing both the bulletin and newsletter when the church's computer went down. Keep your Mac up running to be ready when we need you again."
This was printed in bold italics per the pastor's instructions. Again, the Mac saved the day.
When the service tech finally came, it was another 8 hours before our church's computer was up and running again. At last count, the gentleman who purchased the computer had spend over twice the price of the computer in service costs (in a six month period). With what he paid in service plus the price of the machine, he could have easily bought two new Macs with monitors, extra memory, and a networkable printer. Hey, I may get a convert or two out of this one.
