This announcement is from:

Lloyd Porter, <porter@artifice.com>

Artifice, Inc., a leading provider of creative 3D software, has joined in
a marketing and development partnership with VillageTronic, a German
company producing high-end graphics acceleration hardware for Power
Macintosh. The two companies have collaborated to create mutually
optimized hardware and software 3D graphics products for Power
Macintosh-based content creation professionals. Now the bundled products
will be available to customers in North America and Europe with one-stop
shopping and support, plus optimized prices.

DesignWorkshop(R) Classic and Professional from Artifice are fast, easy,
and affordable software tools for creating spatial models, live
walkthroughs, and renderings, from initial sketches to polished
presentations. They combine creative power and ease-of-use, based on
click-and-drag 3D modeling in a live 3D immersion modeling space. The
DesignWorkshop software provides the fastest creation and rendering
available for QuickDraw 3D models and scenes.

The MacPicasso 540 hardware accelerator with 3D Overdrive provides
uncompromised 2D and 3D graphics acceleration, using the powerful 3Dfx
Voodoo chip set. Other Macintosh accelerators using the 3Dfx chip don't
support windowed graphics, making them useful only for game acceleration.
And the Macintosh accelerators using ATI chip sets don't support
3Dfx-only games such as Bungie's Myth: The Fallen Lords.

The MacPicasso with 3D Overdrive, called by MacADDICT, "...one of the
slickest pieces of engineering we've seen," is the first board for Power
Macintosh to fully accelerate both the latest 3D immersion games and
professional creative applications like DesignWorkshop. The MacPicasso
540 can also be enhanced with low-cost add-on modules for high-quality
video work. The MacPaloma add-on provides video and audio in with four
channel mixing, and the MacPablo provides video out.

DesignWorkshop presents a new kind of spatial design software for content
creation professionals. The unique live-3D user interface of
DesignWorkshop combines advanced feature-based solid modeling technology
with MacDraw-style click-and-drag editing to provide maximum modeling
power with the minimum of complex commands.

The trimesh QD3D geometry type is used internally in DesignWorkshop for
maximum QuickDraw 3D acceleration. The Optimize Model command allows
similar speed to be achieved with imported QuickDraw 3D models, using
data streamlining and algorithmic conversion of meshes to trimeshes. In
addition to raw performance, DesignWorkshop provides the most complete
QuickDraw 3D viewing support available. The Walk Tool provides exciting
game-style live 3D walkthroughs, radically accelerated by the MacPicasso.

Automatic scaled texture-mapping, an extensive library of realistic
architectural textures and light types, and plug-in renderers all work
together transparently to make producing high-quality scenes and
renderings a snap. With the 3Dfx chip set and ample VRAM, the MacPicasso
with 3D Overdrive doesn't slow down when rendering realistic, heavily
textured DesignWorkshop models with extensive lighting effects.

The combination of immersion modeling, experiential visualization, and
presentation rendering, in one fast, easy and affordable package makes
DesignWorkshop with MacPicasso a great solution for architectural and
interior design, for film, TV, and theatrical production design,
lighting, real estate marketing, plant design and layout, and for exhibit
and package design.

The "Classic MacPicasso Bundle" is being introduced at $599.00 direct
from Artifice, including DesignWorkshop Classic and the MacPicasso 540
with 3D Overdrive. The "Professional MacPicasso Bundle" is being
introduced at $799.00 direct from Artifice, including DesignWorkshop
Professional and the MacPicasso 540 with 3D Overdrive. Orders can be
placed at the Artifice web site, by calling 800-203-8324 in the USA, or
by calling 541-345-7421 worldwide.

DesignWorkshop Classic is also available direct from Artifice at the
everyday low price of $99.00, and the everyday low price for
DesignWorkshop Professional complete with LightWorks rendering is just
$495. DesignWorkshop Lite, a fully-functional freeware version of
DesignWorkshop for Power Macintosh and Windows NT, is available now for
downloading at the Artifice web site.
