This tidbit is from:

jaeger.f.c., <jaeger.cfam@bluewin.ch>

I've just read this at CNN web site, talking about Windows 98:

"I write this with a heavy heart: Where's the innovation? As vilified as
"Win95" was for its copycat Macintosh look, it was still a significant
advancement in ease of use, simplicity on the screen and progress toward
plug and play. Over at the "other OS" when Apple released OS8, it
represented major benefits over the 7 series. A day with Windows 98 does
not show similar improvements."

Subject: Tidbit - Time Magazine Still Likes Macs

This tidbit is from:

Lang, Adam, <adam.lang@caere.com>

In their May 4, 1998 edition, Time published a 'First Peek at Windows
98.' It had a lot more information about the current legal situation than
it did the actual OS, which (at least in my opinion) is definitely a step
up from Windows 95, not that that is in any way difficult. The end of the
article, though, shows that somebody at Time is still in the Mac camp:

"...for serious PC users, [70 mb of hard drive space is] a small price to
pay to keep pace with the ever improving Windows. Hey, these days it's
almost as good as a Mac."

Subject: Job - Software Architect (Minneapolis, MN)

This job announcement is from:

David Durkee, <ddurkee@earthlink.net>

Multi-Ad Services, a long time developer of advertising software for the
MacOS, is looking to expand its development team. We have opportunities
for programmers with demonstrated experience creating applications for
the Macintosh and enthusiasm for the Mac platform. We require knowledge
of C and some experience programming with the Macintosh toolbox. C++
experience strongly preferred. Additional qualifications that would make
you more useful to us include understanding of object-oriented
programming and the use of frameworks; expertise in PostScript;
programming experience in desktop publishing, graphics, or word
processing areas; experience writing text editing code for non-Roman
languages or knowledge of a non-Roman language; deep knowledge of MacOS
technologies such as AppleScript, ColorSync, GX Graphics and Typography;
mystical knowledge of Apple's future plans. Rhapsody, Windows 95 or NT
programming experience can't hurt either.

Our software development department located in Eden Prairie, MN (just
outside of Minneapolis) maintains a casual atmosphere with flexible
hours, talented, interesting coworkers, and free coffee. Multi-Ad
Services, Inc. is an employee-owned company with medical and dental
benefits, annual stock distributions, and a 401K plan.

This job announcement is from:

Josh Turiel, <josht@janeshouse.com>

I've written the following job posting for local newspapers, and I
figured it'd be a huge help to post here on the EvangeList, too. I'm
currently the IS Manager at this company, and I'm leaving in late May to
join a larger organization. I want to replace myself with a superior
network guru, the kind of person who thinks in packets. If you're that
person, read the below ad:

Adlife, a fast-growing retail advertising agency in Norwood, MA is
seeking a System Administrator to maintain their network of NT servers
and Macintoshes. Candidates should have NT and/or Unix skills, a thorough
understanding of protocols such as FDDI, IP, and AppleTalk, and need to
be fluent in the Mac OS. A Solaris migration on the server side is
tentatively planned for this summer, so experience there is good, too
Certifications (MCSE, ASE) helpful but not required. Please send resumes
(with salary requirements and references) to:

Adlife Marketing & Communications
Attn: Systems Department
555 University Avenue
Norwood, MA 02062

or e-mail to <evangelist@adlife.com> (this is an address I'm setting up
just for resumes off this listserv)

Subject: Tidbit - May Poster Offer

This tidbit is from:

Charlie Monroe, <csm@bellsouth.net>

Okay, here's one everybody can get into....

This month's poster is a "computer sticker". It would have been a bumper
sticker, but the inks don't hold up well outdoors.

Send us your design / message and we'll put it on a computer sticker for
you. It's printed on removable vinyl, so feel free to come up with an
interesting message you could stick on a Windoze anchor or (better yet)
your favorite Mac or anywhere else that's crying out for a sticker. For
some ideas check out <www.legalist.com/temp/may/bumpers.html>.

E-mail your text or attach your design along with your snail mail address
to <tadah@legalist.com> and we'll output your message in full color on a
3.5inch x12inch sticker. Then send us $1.00 (when you get a chance) to
A/V Designs 4343 Shallowford Road, Suite C-2B, Marietta, Georgia 30062.

For those of you outside the U.S., send us any sort of paper money
equivalent to $1.00 +/- and we'll add it to our *global designs* wall.
We're still trying to make it around the world virtually.

The only restriction is, as usual, the content has to be PG. Otherwise
its wide open to anyone even if you only have Simpletext on your machine!

BTW check out several of the posters that came in during March and April
at <http://www.legalist.com/temp/march/posters.html>. We had some great
submissions. If you have the time, drop the author a note and let them
know what a great job they did.

Stay tuned for June's offer...here's a hint: You'll want to wear it out!

Subject: PR - StrainMan 1.0 (Microbial Genetic Research Organizer)

Keyword: Market by market, Science

This announcement is from:

<Caesar.Software@nh.ultranet.com>

Caesar Software, LLC <http://www.caesarsoftware.com> today announced the
release of StrainMan 1.0, its new software product to help scientists
involved in microbial genetic research organize and document their strain
collections.

"StrainMan is a command-and-control center for microbial genetic
research. It provides powerful tools to manage the large amounts of
complex information related to a strain collection" according to Dr.
Robert S. Negm <negm@caesarsoftware.com>>, President of Caesar Software
LLC. "StrainMan demonstrates Caesar Software's commitment to bring
innovative applications of computer technology to the scientific
community."

Scientists engaged in bacterial genetics can generate hundreds of
modified strains every week, making it difficult to track each strain's
genetic characteristics. Detailed record keeping is essential, since
without detailed records, a strain collection is virtually useless. In
many laboratories, information regarding a given strain is divided among
notebooks, file cards and individual memories. Efforts to retrieve and
summarize the data from these varied sources are inconvenient and
inefficient.

Caesar Software developed StrainMan to provide scientists with a solution
to the problems of collecting and organizing microbial genetic data. The
principal advantages offered by StrainMan are a well-organized and
comprehensive description of each strain's characteristics, easy
retrieval of strain information, and the ability to publish any portion
of the database on the Worldwide Web.

Available now, StrainMan 1.0 runs on computers using the Macintosh,
Windows95 and WindowsNT operating systems, and is priced at $995 ($795
for academic users). Fully functional trial versions of the program are
available for download at:

<http://www.caesarsoftware.com>

Headquartered in Portsmouth, New Hampshire, Caesar Software LLC was
founded in 1997 to provide innovative computer solutions to the
scientific community.

StrainMan was developed on Macs by Mac users. It happens to operate on
Windows too, but the look, feel and design is all Macintosh. While users
of the program need to have spent years learning the science this program
is used for, learning to use the program only takes a few minutes.

This tidbit from

<g.wagner@sylvania.sev.org> (George Wagner)

For anyone who watches Earth: Final Conflict, they were suprised with a
prominant display of Apple products. During a court trial, the Prosecutor
had a PowerBook and a Newton 2000 or 2100, and the defense had a Newton
130. It seems that even in this technologially advanced world (the
defense worked for the advanced alien race), they superiority of Apple
products are obvious.

The book "Apple T-Shirts" has sold well since its introduction in late

"EvangeList" (case sensitive, no quotes) in the "How did you hear about

Thanks for your orders!

"Apple T-Shirts: A Yearbook of History at Apple Computer" is a hardbound,
full-color book containing photographs of over 1000 shirts created over
