Date: Thu, 14 May 1998 02:06:57 -0000 From: John Halbig <john@garage.com> Subject: PR - Freeverse Releases Spades Deluxe 1.0 (Game)
Keyword: Market by market, Games
This announcement is from:
Colin Lynch Smith, <colin@freeverse.com>
Freeverse Software today announced the release of Spades Deluxe 1.0 for the Macintosh. Featuring animated characters, a 3-D perspective, and very strong AI, Spades Deluxe is generations ahead of other computer card games.
Starting with the assumption that card games are as much about social interaction as about following suit, Freeverse Software has designed an interface that is fun, easy, and remarkably social. The colorful computer characters joke and react to the fall of the cards just as you and your friends might. Each character is a separate plug-in module so you can pick your favorites, and download new ones from the Freeverse website.
Spades Deluxe, written by Bryan Pietrzak and incorporating a full modernization of Ian Lynch Smith's award-winning Hearts Deluxe engine, is the new benchmark in computer card games. It supports all of the most popular play options, has variable skill settings, a full tutor mode to teach you the game, and features Apple's speech recognition technology.
System Requirements: Any Macintosh running MacOS System 7.1 through System 8.1, six megs of RAM, PowerPC or 68K.
Spades Deluxe is US$19.95 shareware and $29.95 for a CD-ROM version. It is available from WWW.FREEVERSE.COM or wherever better shareware is found.
Freeverse Software is a leading developer and publisher of shareware computer games for the Macintosh. Freeverse is the recipient of numerous industry awards and has been featured in WIRED magazine and TIME DIGITAL among others. Other games from Freeverse include the shareware classic Hearts Deluxe, Enigma, Othello: The Eclipse, X-Words Deluxe, CrossCards and Burning Monkey Solitaire.
Freeverse is also the maker of the vocal atrocity, JARED: Butcher of Song and the really new way to office, SimStapler '98.

Here is an article that appeared on the Minneapolis Star Tribune's website. Talk about a breath of fresh air in the mainstream press!
"Truth be told, Apple is indeed a viable force in the computer industry. We need only look to Microsoft for proof. According to Microsoft statistics, there are approximately 60 million Windows 95 users. Coincidentally, that just happens to be the number of Macintosh users. If 60 million Mac users are not a viable force, what is?"

This special offer is from:
Roger Ridpath, <roger@sitejazz.com>
You just designed a killer Web site using Photoshop. Now your designs have to work in the "real" world of html. All of this is a whole lot easier if you're using smartGIF, a new plug-in that dramatically improves the way designers move graphics to the Web. And through June 1998, EvangeListas get 25% off!
In short, smartGIF lets you divide any image that's open in Photoshop into as many segments as you'd like, and then export them as individual GIF files. And it's easy to fuse palettes between segments and control color locally or globally.
Key smartGIF features include:
* Exclusive multi-selection capability -- a new standard for saving Web images.
* Valuable on-screen image and file size preview.
* When matching index colors for a series of images is critical, smartGIF's exclusive "join palette" feature calculates a single, smart palette for any number of selections.
* Selection and color depth settings are saved for future use.
* Save GIFs using adaptive, Web, Macintosh and Windows palettes.
Web designers simply must have smartGIF. It's only $111.75 (regularly $149.99) for EvangeList readers. This is a very exclusive offer for online sales only, so for more details on smartGIF functions or to get it now, go to <http://www.sitejazz.com/evangelistas>. A 15-day, fully functional demo also is available at <http://www.sitejazz.com>, but be sure to bookmark the <http://www.sitejazz.com/evangelistas> address to get the exclusive price before the end of June.
smartGIF is created by actual Web designers at SiteJazz Corp, a Web-development software company based in Leawood, Kan.
