This announcement is from:

<swmark@channld.com>

Audio Delay Finder automatically measures the time delay between two
audio signals.

Time delay measurement is invaluable for the setup of professional sound
reinforcement systems, and many other purposes.

Audio Delay Finder eventually will be integrated with Mac the Scope,
Channel D's audio frequency spectrum analyzer, oscilloscope, and signal
generator software. However, Audio Delay Finder currently is packaged as
a stand-alone application, available for free download, for evaluation
and comments:

Subject: PR - Fonts Manager 3.8 Released

This announcement is from:

(Ed Hopkins) <hoppy@kagi.com>

Manage your font suitcases and printer fonts in 'Sets', like Extensions
Manager!

Fonts Manager is similar to the Mac OS Extensions Manager, but it manages
Fonts instead of Control Panels and Extensions. It allows the enabling
and disabling of font suitcases and printer fonts in 'Sets'. It supports
the viewing and printing of font samples, export of 'Sets', import of
saved 'Sets', Balloon Help, and a Tutorial Topics system. It is NOT a
Control Panel or Extension (like ATM Delu... or Suitca... or Master
Juggl...), NOR does it pretend to be one by living in the Startup Items
folder (like Font Reser...); thus it works on ALL Macs with System 7.1 or
later, including Mac OS 8.1 (and HFS+), without modifying the NORMAL
startup and operation of your computer. Thousands worldwide running all
kinds of Macs (and Mac OS compatibles) have switched to Fonts Manager to
get 'Up & Running'.

Available <@> many locations, including the following:

Info-Mac
America Online
c|net
MacUser
AMUG.

Shareware fee is $10 for Fonts Manager (FREE to registered users of ALL
earlier versions). $More for the Mac OS X version when available (save
time/hassle - pay now). Volume discount, Site License, and World-Wide
License available. Inquire within...

For more information, please read the Fonts Manager Read Me file
enclosed, or visit my Web page:

Sean O'Shaughnessey, <seanos@earthlink.net>

NewtonTalk, the email discussion list for all Newton based technology,
has recently posted the summary for a recent poll ranking the most
popular packages used by our members on their Newtons.

The results of this poll are extremely useful for any Evangelistas that
are also Newton users.

NewtonTalk is less than a year old but has quickly become the prominent
source of immediate feedback and assistance for Newton users. NewtonTalk
was started after a suggestion several months ago by Digital Guy
encouraging people to start email discussion lists about topics that
interested them. There are now over 1100 NewtonTalkers.

The NewtonTalk web site is <http://www.newtontalk.com/>.

Subject: ?? - Mac Computer Telephony Interface Products

This request is from:

Brett Trent, <vector@cutco.com>

My company is in the process of shopping for a new phone system. Since we
are a mid-size firm this will be a $400K - $500K purchase, which is still
a lot of money to us.

We are talking to many of the big vendors: Lucent, NEC, NorTel, Fujitsu,
Seimens, etc. One thing that they are all pushing is CTI technology,
Computer Telephony Interface. Among other things this lets you use you
computer as a telephone, answering machine, conference phone, call manger
and so on.

Every demo we have seen for these products so far is on a Windows
machine. None of the vendors we have seen so far even has a Macintosh
client for these apps. Their answer has been that if there are packages
for the Mac that support the standard CTI protocols (TAPI and TSAPI) that
we can use them with the phone systems.

This is disturbing as my group is trying very hard to "hold the fort"
against the Windows wave in our corporation. Things like this do not make
it any easier.

A brief search on the web yielded nothing useful on this subject. Perhaps
such products do not exist for the Mac, but I thought I would check here
first.

Subject: ;-) - The Mac User Secret Handshake?

This tidbit is from:

George Wagner, <g.wagner@sylvania.sev.org>

On the way back from a trip to Atlanta, I stopped at a gas station. I was
wearing my typical Mac-related T-shirt. On the way out, a customer who
was entering said "Think Different, man." He then said he loved my
license plate (7APPLE). When we got to the van, my mother asked if I knew
what he was talking about. I explained Apple's ad campaign.

All we need now is a secret handshshake
