This announcement is from:

Brett, <brett@neuconcept.com>

The Clipables Master CD is one of the most outstanding clipart libraries
available for both Macintosh and PC compatible computers. This library
features the following:

* Fully editable and layered images
* All images in complete library in three formats
* Full color EPS - not scanned or auto traced, but hand rendered
* Original Black & White EPS (Mac & PC)
* Color TIFF (Mac & PC)
* Color PICT (Mac)
* Easy to use electronic browser
* Full Color manual shows every illustration and is keyed to the CD
* Hybrid CD allows both a Mac and PC to read the CD

First released in 1989 at the Boston MacWorld Expo, Clipables was one of
the very first collections of EPS graphics available for Macintosh and
IBM and compatible computers. Since that first release, Clipables has
gained the type of recognition that only a library of its caliber should
have. In fact, if you read MacUser, Publish, PC, MacWorld, Home PC, or
any of a host of the other major computer magazines, you'll find that
Clipables is considered one of the highest quality graphic image products
that you can use.

Our Clipables Master CD is comprised of four major sections: the Main
Library, Statements, Travel and Vacation, and Editions I. When all four
sections are put together, you have an expansive library of nearly 2000
quality fully layered images.

Our artists are of the highest caliber, and have years and years of
professional illustration and graphic design experience under their
belts. And most important, we rigorously test to make certain that all of
our illustrations are 100% compatible with the leading draw and page
layout programs.

Right now, Clipables are at a special price in honor of the MacWorld
Expo, up to 30 days after the incredible event. Online you can get this
incredible package for only $49.95 + Shipping. That's $100 off of our
regular price of $149.95. Just make sure to put "MACWORLD EXPO SPECIAL"
in the "comments" field when placing your order.

You can place a secure order now:

This tidbit is from:

Joe Ryan, <webmaster@applelinks.com>

REVIEW: ChatNet 2.1

ChatNet provides the simplest Macintosh interface to chat and send files
on the Internet or a Local Area Network. ChatNet offers two modes for
chat. The AppleTalk Mode allows multiple Macintosh computers running
ChatNet to chat or send files on a Local Area Network, with or without a
Server. The IRC Mode allows chat and file transfer through an Internet
Relay Chat Server. ChatNet acts as a client program providing a button
oriented graphical interface for all IRC functions. There is no need to
know any IRC commands.

Subject: Followup - Rotating the Monitor

This follow-up message is from:

Michael F. Simon, <mfsimon@mich.com>

In my posting to the List, I asked about the possibility of using my old
Radius ColorPivot LE, formerly on my SE/30, with my new PowerMac
6500/250. I neglected to specify the ColorPivot is model 0379.

I had a great number of repsonses, far more than I expected, I extend my
thanks to you all. Some of them asked me to follow up, so here goes.

The replies fell into three groups.

First, there were those who recommended I contact <www.portrait.com> for
their MacPortrait software, as successor to the Radius software. It did
not work alone, ie without an adapter.

Second, there those who recommended I contact Griffin Technology
<www.nashville.net/~griffin/> for their MacSync adapter. Despite its many
and various possible settings, it would not produce a an adequate image
on the old monitor. The best I coud achieve was an image distorted by
compressing the vertical dimension.

Third, there were those that said it could NOT be done, cautioned me
against running a 15" Apple multisync monitor on its side as I had
suggested (heat and/or fire risk), and/or advised me to get such a large
monitor that I would not need a portrait configuration.

This third group of respondents turned out to have, IMHO, the best
advice. I have decided to use the 15" Apple monitor, unless I can trade
up to a 17"; and maybe find a way to use the old Radius with my old
SE/30, linked to my new computer into a common, enlarged desktop.

My respondents were: Steve Abrahamson, Alain B, Sturat Cairns, John
Eriksen, Bernard Forgues,Thomas Kase, Duane A. Leinnenger II, Patrick
McNamara, msms. Oliver Straessle, V. Nazarian, Johann Beda, Mark Berman,
Michael R. Childers, danstra, John F. Donigan, Joseph H. Dougherty, David
Dunham, Mark Gisleson, Brian Gunning, Tom Hennigan, Larry Herman, Leo
Hochhauser, M.D., jonro, Russ Kirkpatrick, Daniel Knight, Robert Leeds,
MacinGod, Louise Menges, Simon Jenson-Fellows, MacKinnon Simpson, Simon
(no relation), Mathew Stevens, Dave Towle, and several others whose mail
I lost before their names were recorded.

MANY THANKS TO ALL OF YOU. (I know that's shouting, but you deserve it!)

Subject: Tidbit - Macintosh E-mail Resource Page

This tidbit is from:

Omar Shahine <shahineo@macemail.com>

I am pleased to announce the launch of the Macintosh E-mail Resource Page
(MERP). There are many great E-mail clients available for Macintosh
users, and this information is spread out on the World Wide Web. This
page is here to serve as a starting point for everything Macintosh and
E-mail.

The MERP is designed for new users shopping around for a new e-mail
client, or for current users that are looking for valuable information
about their current E-mail applications. Links to those resources are
categorized below. As time goes on we will continue to update this page
with new and relevant information. However, what we will not do is
provide redundant information to you. The various "Unofficial" sites
about Eudora, Outlook Express, Mailsmith, and Emailer have a great deal
of information related to those applications.

There is a lot of information about e-mail clients that is universal.
There are also many shareware and commercial products that function with
all the e-mail clients available. Most of the links on this site point to
external sites and are in no way associated with the Macintosh E-mail
Resource Page. Links that point to pages that are hosted by the MERP are
indicated. Please feel free to send in feedback about this site and I
hope you will find it a valuable resource.

You may visit the site at <http://www.macemail.com>

JBIC Fish Cam

<http://fish.jbic.com/>

I'd like to encourge all the evangelistas out there to take a look at my
Fish Cam at <http://fish.jbic.com/>. This is truely "Apple Technology at
Work".

The aquarium is made inside an old Mac Plus, based on Andy Ihnatko's
excellent instructions.

The image is being server from by Quadra 840av which is, among other
things, running WebCam Turbo <http://webcam.paperjet.com/> to serve the
images, cracking DES keys <http://www.distributed.net> (btw, GET
CRACKING!), my full time Internet workstation, and running Apple's latest
OS - 8.1. I'd like to see a 5 year old PC try to run half of that! Win98
on a 386 - hah! :)

Also on the site I have information on building your own MacQuarium, lots
of images of the inside and outside of the tank, a few QuickTime movies,
and I'm even using the power of the Internet to pick a name for my fish.
Please vote, it'd be a shame if I ended up calling my fish Bill and
Gates. :)
