This tidbit is from:
<mailto: "Stewart Smith" stewart@SoftHome.net>
Graphmatica is a program for drawing graphs from equations (such as y=x^2) that has, up until now, been available only for Windows or DOS. I now have the opportunity to port this program to the Macintosh! If you want to try the Windows version go to <http://www8.pair.com/ksoft/> Do not mail them with anything regarding the MacOS version, mail me instead <mailto:(stewart@softhome.net)>.
I am hoping to have a working version by sometime in December and the final by February next year. If you are interested in the final product, or a beta, send me email with "GRAPHMATICA MAC" as the subject.

This tidbit is from:

From: Ken Freeman <kfreeman@prosofteng.com> Subject: Prosoft Engineering NetWare Client 5.12 Preview Now Available!
Visit Prosoft Engineering's newly designed web site for updated information about product plans for NetWare for Mac OS, and download the Preview release of the NetWare Client 5.12 for Mac OS!
<http://www.prosofteng.com/nw4mac/>
Prosoft Engineering has greatly simplified the NetWare Client 5.12 for Mac OS by integrating volume mounting into the Mac OS Chooser. This "First Look" Preview Release of the client installs a NetWare extension that enables you to browse and mount NetWare volumes from within the Mac OS Chooser. Similar functionality for selecting NetWare print queues from within the Mac OS Chooser is planned for upcoming Beta releases.
Network administrators will appreciate an intelligent, "Mac Like" installer that removes older versions of NetWare files and puts all the right files in all the right places. Better yet, the installer can be run over the network, or be installed onto either the current boot disk, or onto a second drive with a valid system.
Prosoft Engineering has also simplified what gets installed! For example, the Remote Console utility is not for the average user and is available as a custom install option. Because of the new "Chooser" functionality you no longer need the NetWare Directory Browser, NetWare Print Chooser, or NetWare Volume Mounter! And, for those of you who like to know exactly what has been installed on your machine, we save an installation log detailing what has been installed and where!
The updated NetWare Client 5.12 for Mac OS enables access to NetWare 5 servers that are IPX enabled. By the end of the year Prosoft Engineering will release updated versions of the AFP.NLM and ATPS.NLM that will provide AppleTalk support to NetWare 5 servers. Visit Prosoft Engineering on the Worldwide Web for more details on Macintosh connectivity solutions with NetWare 5.
Beta Connection Visit the "Beta Connection" area of our web site to find out more information about beta testing the updated NetWare Client 5.12 for Mac OS. We anticipate the beta testing period will benefit both you as a beta tester, as well as provide us with important information about our products running in real world environments.
Optimized for Mac OS 8.1, Mac OS 8.5 and Apple's G3 Computers If you have G3's running Mac OS 8.1 or higher Prosoft Engineering's updated client is a must have! Just in time for Apple's release of Mac OS 8.5!
- - Chooser access Mac users will appreciate the concept of mounting volumes via the Mac OS Chooser. Better Mac OS integration results in a more "Mac like" experience for users, which usually translates to lower training and support costs!
- - "Mac Like" Installer No more guessing where files go, or what's old and what's new. The installer can install over the network, or off of a remote hard drive. Oh, and there's an uninstall too!
- - Fewer extensions This version of NetWare has fewer extensions and preference files than previous versions.
- - Extension Management Easily disable ALL NetWare related extensions with one easy click, using the Extension Manager control panel. Simply view by Packages and all the NetWare Client 5.12 extensions will be grouped together where you can easily enable or disable them.
- - Proper volume/file size reporting One of the most important aspects of the NetWare operating system is the ability to limit user space effectively. The updated 5.12 client properly reports file size and volume size information.
- - Alias support Aliases are working with the 5.12 update!
Enjoy!Prosoft Engineering NetWare for Mac OS Team

Date: Mon, 16 Nov 1998 15:27:14 -0800 From: John Halbig <john@garage.com> Subject: PR - MiniCalendar 2.1
This announcement is from:
<mailto: "Steven Marcotte" catara@idir.net>
MiniCalendar is a small and elegant system calendar. Its main goal is to provide the user with a basic calendar for any month between January 1582 and December 29940.
MiniCalendar is not designed to replace full function date books, rather it is designed to complement such programs. Programs such as Claris Organizer or Now Up-To-Date excel at managing appointments and dates, but are clumsy when it comes to looking up what day your birthday is going to fall on next year. MiniCalendar fills this niche nicely. Since MiniCalendar is small and easy enough to use, you will want to leave it running so you will always have access to a calendar.
As you'd expect from Catara, MiniCalendar is robust, 100% PowerPC native, easy to use, and efficient. For $5 shareware, it makes a nice addition to MacOS 8.x.
System Requirements
Mac or PowerMac Color Quickdraw System 7 or MacOS 8.0 2MB Free Disk Space 2MB Free Memory
MiniCalendar 2.1 is available trough the info-mac archive or download.com. You may also download it from our "Monster Download Page." at:

Date: Mon, 16 Nov 1998 15:27:20 -0800 From: John Halbig <john@garage.com> Subject: ?? - Mac Product Available For Acquisition
This request is from:
<mailto: "Lane Hovac" software@banzai.net>
Our client, MicroMat Computer Systems, has a telephony product called PhoneMaker available for acquisition.
PhoneMaker allows people to create telephony applications on the Macintosh. For information on the software, go to:
MicroMat still uses the product in their technical support group to manage incoming calls. To hear the quality of this system, call 707-837-0444.
This is a great product and one which MicroMat regrets having to discontinue. Their flagship product, TechTool Pro, has turned the focus of the company entirely towards utilities and they can no longer spare the resources to work on this product.
Some more facts:
* Price: $50,000 * Includes all software and source. * Includes remaining built hardware. * Includes all remaining non-built hardware. * Includes all remaining packaging and marketing material. * Includes all collateral material (ad files, art, etc.) * Includes database of registered owners/users and prospects. * Only one competitor. * Large demand for Macintosh Telephony (a market completely dominated by wintel)
Serious inquiries only. This product is currently discontinued and MicroMat has no desire to sell single units. Please inquire only if interested in acquisition.
Thanks!

This announcement is from:

I've learned to deal with those stuck-up waiters in high falootin' restaurants. I've even gotten to where I don't make slurping sounds when I suck the soup out of my bowl. Experience has also taught me not to chew tobacco at big city social gatherings because they usually don't have any (good) place to spit.
Now I am ready to share my wealth of knowledge with others. (Please read this ad to a redneck friend.)
Armed with this great product, your favorite redneck will be able to whup out quick stationery based documents for Dear Jane letters, game warden applications, requests for parole, and more. There's calendars (for keeping track of hunting season), and lots of original redneck clipart. If you screw up, Sheriff Bubba tries to show you the light. Of course, if you cross the line one time too many, you'll be back with your sister in the cross bar motel pressing license plates.
Redneck Publisher is avalable for $29.95 and is a real (and real funny) desktop publishing program. It's built on the same engine used in our best selling product: Classroom Publisher. This is a great stocking stuffer for all evangelistas at a great price.

Retro Review: Blood Bath
By Kirk Hiner
Released in 1995 by Underworld Software, "Blood Bath's" premise is simple; shoot people. But don't get the wrong idea...this game is nothing like "Unreal" or "Duke Nukem." In those games, you can move. "Blood Bath," on the other hand, takes its cue from those arcade games with the handguns chained to the cabinet. You point the gun at the screen and shoot the guys that pop up from behind barrels and boxes and such. Only on the Mac, there's no gun (at least I hope not). It's just you, your mouse, and a bus load of prison escapees.
