This request is from:
Greg Christie <mailto:audi@ozemail.com.au>
This is a request from a member of the Englich Cocker Spaniel mailing list I subscribe to.
"I've been doing a lot of research lately on kennel software programs, and I'm overwhelmed! I don't know that I need a lot of the stuff some of them offer, and don't see some of the stuff I'd like to have.
"Anybody "out there" got something they really like? Or don't like? What can y'all do with your software? And what would you change or add if you could?"
This list member has been unable to locate any Macintosh Kennel Software. All her investigations have led to PC versions. She doe not want to give up her Mac.
Does anybody know of any kennel software available for Macs? Please reply to <mailto:audi@ozemail.com.au>

This announcement is from:
John Mauro <mailto:maurojc@bushbaby.alfred.edu>
John Mauro Software is proud to announce the release of Trilite 3.0 for Mac OS. Trilite is a shareware game similar to tic-tac-toe, but much more fun and challenging. The object is to get three adjacent squares set to your color. These squares may be horizontal, vertical, or diagonal. On your turn, click on any empty square to fill it with your color. Sound simple enough? Well, here's the trick: you may only have three squares occupied at a time. Once you click on a fourth square, the first one you selected becomes empty again, allowing your opponent to make a surprise move. You may play against another person or a computer player (with two levels of difficulty).
Please download Trilite from my web site at:
<http://cs.alfred.edu/~maurojc/software>
Thank you and enjoy!

In the January 11, 1999 issue of Time magazine, there is an extensive cover article relating to genetic research. A featured sidebar in this story is a biography of Craig Venteer, the eminent geneticist who is leading the private sector's effort to map the human genome.
There is a posed photograph of Venteer standing in his lab, surrounded by an aisle of gene sequencers that he helped to invent. And what kind of computer do you suppose is connected to each gene sequencer? Why, Macs of course! Although the specific model is difficult to determine in the photograph, the computers are clearly of the 7x00 form factor of Power Macintoshes (or perhaps desktop G3's, or Quadra/Centris 650s--you know the kind I mean).
The Jan 11 issue of Time is on Pathfinder's web site, of course <http://cgi.pathfinder.com/time/magazine/toc/0,3392,1101990111,00.html >, but I can't seem to locate the photo in the online version. But the news stand version has the photo I'm talking about.
Anyway, check it out. It's kind of cool to think that such breakthrough science is being pioneered on our favorite platform.

This tidbit is from:
Steve Owsinski <mailto:sowsinsk@engin.umich.edu>
For those of you who are interested in the latest USB offerings for the iMac or the new Power Mac G3s, but are too skeptical to purchase just yet, Peripherals.Net is featuring three product reviews.
Epson Stylus Color 740-- If you need a high-quality color printer, the 740 is a great buy. Super software drivers offer extensive customization, and color quality is amazing.
Imation SuperDisk-- This product has been hyped since the introducion of the iMac way back in May '98-- and for good reason. If you want to break out those old floppies, the SuperDisk is quite adequate. It can use 120MB media, too!
Logitech QuickCam VC-- This inexpensive, versatile camera can record full-motion video, as well as still images, time lapses, and multiple exposures. Plus, you can make stop-motion videos of inanimate objects, and even set up a cheap web cam. Cool!
We hope you find these reviews informative and helpful in your journey to find great USB peripherals!
