Subject: PR - Language Learning Software

This announcement is from:

Jacek Iwanski <mailto:jaceki@kagi.com>

I've developed a set of shareware Macintosh programs to help in
learning and teaching foreign languages. The programs can be used by
students to access multimedia courses, dictionaries, and to practice
the foreign language. Teachers can use the software to prepare
learning materials. The modular structure of the 'Language Toolkit'
programs allows easy customization for individual needs.

Please visit my home-page at:

<http://users.netmatters.co.uk/dandaforbes>

to download the software and ready-made modules for learning various languages.

Subject: PR - BrainPower, Source for Mac Friendly IT People

This announcement is from:

"Brian T. Nakamoto" <mailto:brian@bpower.com>

I would like to introduce BrainPower to the EvangeList. BrainPower is
a brand new job search engine for IT professionals. From the feedback
I received at Macworld, there is a huge demand for knowledgeable Mac
friendly IT people. (Because most MCSE's don't know what they're
doing when it comes to Macs! :-)

We would like to help solve that problem by encouraging EvangeList
members looking for Mac IT positions to post their resume for free on
BrainPower. (Find out how to score a free BrainPower t-shirt too!)

Furthermore, companies or recruiters looking for qualified Mac IT
people may post job openings and search our resume database free
through March 1, 1999. And because you're on the EvangeList, I'll
send you BrainPower shirts if you post 30 or more jobs by then. (I
apologize that I can only deliver them within the U.S.)

I would like to develop a Sherlock plug-in for our web site.
Unfortunately, our engineers are extremely busy. If anyone is
interested, please e-mail me.

Subject: ?? - Topo Map Software

This request is from:

Dave Shaw <mailto:dshaw@accessone.com>

I use and create maps a lot, both for recreation and in my work.
There are now available topographic maps of the entire country on CD
with wonderful utilities that make it possible to get an elevation
profile of a trail, for example. None that I find, however, run on a
Mac. Do any of the Evangelistas know of a Mac topo map application? I
hope you can help - I'm almost ready to give my Powerbook a lobotomy
to run a Windows emulator.

This announcement is from:

Sherman Uitzetter <mailto:sherman@kineticcreations.com>

The Export Icon Plug-in enhances Adobe Photoshop by allowing direct
export of Photoshop images to MacOS custom icon files. The plug-in
creates custom icons directly from Photoshop images, using the
image's RGB pixel data to create 4, 8 and 32-bit icons for the icon
file. In addition, the image's transparency information is used to
create the icon's 1 and 8-bit masks.

System Requirements: Any Apple Macintosh or other computer running
MacOS System 7.5 or later and Adobe Photoshop. MacOS system 8.5 or
higher is required for 32-bit icon support.

The Export Icon Plug-in is available for $15 US. The fully-working,

Subject: ?? - Internet Auction Software Tracking Needed

This request is from:

<mailto:jrdhghe@par1.net (John R. Dhooghe)>

Help!! I need to find software that allows you to setup auctions on
E-Bay or other auction sites. There is a really good Wintel version
called "Auction Assistant" that sends automated messages and loads
pictures and text onto the auction site. What few that I have found
have been all Wintel!! I know there has to be a Mac version somewhere
that allows tracking of your auctions, whether be it a seller or
bidder, loads pictures and text and will keep track of your auctions.

If a fellow Evangelist knows of such a piece of software, whether it
be free or expensive, please let me know. Thanks to all!!

This tidbit is from:

Chris Adamson <mailto:plucky@mindspring.com>

With Connectix pushing ahead towards a retail release of the "Virtual
Game Station", I'd like to let you and your readers know about the
"Macs Only! CVGS Watch", a new page at the Macs Only! site where
we're tracking compatibility and performance with the PlayStation
emulator. So far, we've got about 40 games rated (referenced by
score, performance notes, and specs on the reviewers system so
readers can better understand how well their machines will run games
under CVGS). We're actively seeking input from the 3,000-some Mac/PSX
users who bought CVGS at MacWorld to beef up our ratings, which will
be updated as Connectix updates the sofware.

Thanks, and we hope to see you there!
