Hey folks,
Thought this would be a good topic. Now that we have 8.5 and higher, it seems that all these subtle changes have added up to some major user interface productivity increases. Drop us a line to tell us your tips.

Here's a couple of mine:

1. USE ICQ! "Why?" you ask? Because if your ISP is like mine, it has a tendency to drop your connection if there is no activity coming from your computer, even if you're doing an extended download (like a complete Netscape installer or something). ICQ periodically looks for info on the users in your user list and will keep your net connection up. I used to have a problem with my Mac staying online for more than 2 hours whereas my PC would stay on line ~8 hours. I added ICQ to my Mac (which the PC already had) and now they both get ~8 hours before losing the connection.

2. Window tabs. You know those tabs that come up when you drag a window to the bottom of the screen? I've created a folder on my HD called "Folders" In this folder I have several other folders such as Applications, Internet, Graphics, Games, Downloads, and Utilities. I create aliases for all my programs and stick them in these folders, then made a row of tabs at the bottom of the screen. It simplifies drag and drop because you don't have a ton of cluttered icons on your desktop AND you don't have to drill down to the correct folder.

How about you guys?
