Duh.... For me the Be OS has been safe running on my PowerCenter Mac clone.

This is how I have it set up.

Main 2GB hard drive on my Mac is for well.. Mac only... OS 8 and the rest.
The only BE item I got on the drive is a little BE system launcher and extension file that allows for switching to the BE OS.

I run the BE OS off my Zip Drive... er.. yeah.. not the best of all solutions but I can rest assured that a BE partition on my main drive won't screw up a Mac partition. I have read and heard of people having problems with running the 2 operating systems on the same drive.

A better solution of course would be to run the BE OS off another, bigger hard drive so that you can run some of the commercial applications that are available for the BE OS.

But with the Zip alone you can surf the net with the built in net suite, run all (or most) of the cool looking BE demos and stuff.

Since I also have an external zip drive, I have also formatted a second zip cartridge to store BE files and more applications. Running the BE OS like this is kind of like running the Mac OS in the olden days off two floppies using a Mac Plus... but of course faster somewhat.

One note is that no G3 Macs currently support the BE OS.. something about Steve Jobs not wanting to release the code to Be to enable G3 Macs run BE. :-(

As far as any hardware problems, I have encountered none so far. I have been running versions 1 and 2 of the BE OS since October 1997.
