Have any of you downloaded Avara yet? This game is like a 3D version of Bolo, with better graphics and a lot easier networking. There's a site on the internet for net games. This game is AWESOME. True 3D...you can, I believe, even change out the 3D models (they're in DXF format)
It's fairly playable over the internet at night when the backbones aren't so overloaded. Smaller games (2-3 people) are pretty fluid on my 7500 at 28.8 connection. Unlike Bolo, the person with the fastest machine doesn't necessarily always win, because the data is all equilibrated to give the same framerate and everything on the machines.
This is a DEFINITE game for our next VMUGM meeting. When will we get together? We could have a trial game over the internet beforehand, too. I highly recommend this game to anybody. Apparently people with fairly beefy ('040) regular macs can play it too. I would have to say a PowerMac is likely to be the realistic minimum, though. The best thing about it is that unlike most Ambrosia games, its installer is a mere 2.5 megs. That's NOTHING for an Ambrosia game. Heck, Maelstrom was about that big way back when it came out.
