Op, <<<I bought and ethernet card for the Quattro clone and a pigtail for 10 base T so that I could network and use the resources of the headgap system remotely as well as work on the headgap. I had trouble with the built in ethernet and have since ordered a nubus card for the Quadra as well. I should have it hooked up this evening. I wish I had money for a Power PC but the Quadras are fairly responsive machines and this one will get clock chipped here pretty quick. I should be able to get 40 mhz out of it but you never know.>>>
For those of us out here with machines that include Ethernet, what all do we need to get hooked up to an ethernet network? For instance, using localtalk and a printer cable, two Macs can simply connect together via printer ports and exchange data. With ethernet (let's assume you've got 2 PCI-powermacs), can you do the same with a simple 10bT RJ-xxx cable? Say you want to add a 3rd user, what extra stuff would you need? Just something like etherwave, or would you need a router?

P.S. I'd really appreciate any info you can give me! This is something we were going to try at the next VMUGM meeting (which I won't be able to attend, since I'll be out of town this weekend), but maybe we'll try it on the next go-around
