I've actually seen Ethernet configurations with ThinNet (coax) that was connected in a daisy-chain using simple "T" connectors. This probably isn't the best topology, and you most likely would need terminators, but it seems to work. I don't know about setting up a daisy chain for 10baseT without EtherWave though.
