<<Please let me know if you connect okay when dialing the 1543 line direct. I flashed its rom but since it is a 4b rom it will only do 28.8. The update however is supposed to improve connectibility with other modem types. I left the settings default.
I have been disabling MNP5 on the 1543 modems so you Robotics guys can log on and get reasonable transfers. If the trouble has gone away I would like to leave all of the modem features on.>>
I have no trouble with the 1543 line, but the 1542 line just doesn't like me. I'm getting about the same download speeds (about 31.0k) with the 1543 line, and higher upload speeds (about 33.0-34.0k). On the other hand, the 1542 line gives me much lower speeds at about 21.0k. The 1542 line doesn't even appear to be streaming information to my modem (the receive data light flashes instead of staying on).
I liked it back when I had a V.fc modem. It connected to everything flawlessly and ran at speeds of 32.0 consistently. It's ironic that upgrading to the v.34 then to the v.34+ standard causes problems instead of fixing them.
