<<Ellison mulls new bid for Apple>>

The problem with this whole deal is what Ellison is likely to do with Apple if he buys them out. Just as the current management has made the "final cut" and seems to have gotten things in working order (potentially), Ellison wants to come in and boot all the higher-ups. They may not be the best executives in the world, but Apple has spent WAY WAY too much time and money reorganizing for this to work. If somebody comes in and takes over, it'll screw the company as we know it. Regardless.

The other problem is that Ellison has a love affair with the Network Computer (NC) concept and feels Apple is the perfect "brand" for the NC. Personally, I think the NC is an AWFUL idea for home users (who would end up being charged by the minute or second for both processor power, network bandwidth, and software use, and it would end up being very expensive for people like US). Corporations would use NC's very well, but they've already shown reluctance at the idea and even more reluctance to buy Apple products. More likely corporations will buy into the new sub-$1000 clones that are starting to be available.

Any comments?
