I think the decision for Apple to release incremental OSs may be a mixed blessing.

First many of the 68k users will have some of the user interface features of Mac OS 8, although I personally don't care for 68k stuff anymore. They need to focus on the PPCP machines and the Mac OS.

Since Apple's large programming tasks require many teams to make different parts of Mac OS 8, it would make sense to give users the completed parts so they won't have to wait for System 8.

The thing I don't like about this new releasing system is that it seems like it will delay Mac OS 8. I personally don't care about the new 3D look of the Mac OS, or the new search engine. I want pre-emptive multitasking. I don't think Apple should delay this, because all the other major OSs have this feature already.
