I don't think BBSs will die out soon, but I think they will eventually fade out of existence. The whole point of telecomm. is to exchange infomation, and you can do that much more easily on the internet. I'm pretty sure the future Internet will have location specific sites. Perhaps BBSs will just move to the Internet instead of being dial-up. I think the headgap is already heading towards that future. It isn't that bad, accessing the internet, and the headgap at the same time.
