I'm beginning to think it's too little too late. Sure pre-emptive multi-tasking will be nice, but Windows NT machines do that now. I've also been hearing that Windows NT machines are slowly replacing Macs as the mainstream OS of Graphics market. By 1998, I think most PCs will have already upgraded to a robust pre-emptive multi-tasking system based on Windows 9x.

Did I just here you use the term "robust preemptive multitasking" in the same sentance as "Windows 9x"?

I've been using Windows NT, and 95 at school every day now, and I am _not_ impressed.

I very frequently lose data on the Windows NT machine, plus it likes to mangle long file names. The 95 machines crash pretty often, and are very slow.

Actually, a little prediction - MacOS 8 will _not_ break very many prexisting apps. Probably better than 90% of applications that work properly today will work under MacOS 8. There's too big a software base to break it now.

If you want fancy-shmancy preemptive multitasking, then run MkLinux, or BeOS as soon as they come out for your machine. PCI support for MkLinux will be available around December, and BeOS is suppposed to be released for PowerMacs sometime early next year.
