1. Innovative to the Core

Improving the world's most advanced operating system is no easy
feat. Especially one as stable, robust, Internet-savvy, and
graphically rich as Mac OS X.

But with over 150 new features, Mac OS X v10.2--Jaguar--ups the OS
ante significantly. Available next month, Mac OS X v10.2 offers a
faster, multithreaded Finder with such enhancements as built-in
searching and, the most requested feature, spring-loaded folders.
It also includes:

iChat. This AOL-compatible application offers the best implementation
of instant messaging (IM), letting you chat with your AOL and
Mac.com buddies.

Mail. Now you can get only the mail you want. Thanks to an
intelligent filtering engine, Mail lets you easily filter out junk
mail. Say good riddance to unwanted email.

Address Book. With Mac OS X v10.2, the names, addresses, phone numbers,
website addresses, and even photos of your friends, family, and
associates resides in one unified, systemwide database that other
applications on your system can access.

Sherlock 3. Even smarter, the savvy web detective now offers Internet
services for the rest of us--stock quotes, maps, news, movie info,
an outstanding Yellow Pages directory, and more. Without Sherlock 3,
you can access all sorts of information on the Internet without a
browser.

Rendezvous. Networking simplified, Rendezvous lets you network your
computers and devices instantly--without configuring anything.

QuickTime 6. The digital media standard now supports MPEG-4,
the new worldwide standard for professional-quality audio
and video over the Internet.

2. Sweet 17

The ultimate desktop computer for your home now comes with a
fabulous 17-inch widescreen, flat-panel LCD display. It's infinitely
adjustable--just like the display on the 15-inch flat-panel iMac--but
offers 65% more viewable area, approximately the same as a 19-inch
CRT display.

It also comes with a larger hard drive--80GB. And the new 17-inch
flat-panel iMac features the NVIDIA GeForce4 MX graphics processor,
making it an even better choice for games and graphics-intensive
applications.

Powered by an 800MHz PowerPC G4 processor, the newest iMac comes
with a SuperDrive, Apple Pro Speakers, Mac OS X, and a full suite of
Internet, productivity, entertainment, and lifestyle applications.

3. 4000 Songs to Go

Now, no matter the size of your music collection, there's an iPod
for you.

Take, for example, our newest iPod. Its capacious 20GB hard drive
lets you carry up to 4000 songs in your pocket--that's as many as
400 CDs (maybe more)--and listen to music for up to 10 hours
before recharging.

Wait, there's more. Thanks to support for Audible audio files, you
can listen to all sorts of spoken-word files on iPod, including
audiobooks, radio archives, newspapers, and magazines.

The 10GB and 20GB models of iPod now come with a wired remote and
carrying case (complete with belt clip), and we've lowered the price
of the 5GB and 10GB models to $299 (US) and $399 (US), respectively.
The 20GB model costs $499 (US).

4. The World's Best Digital Music Player...

Now lets you enjoy your music--and more--in exciting new ways.

With iTunes 3 (available only for Mac OS X), you can:

* Use Smart Playlists, lists that iTunes dynamically creates
for you based on criteria you set
* Rate your songs with from 1 to 5 stars
* Track how many times you play a song (both in iTunes and
iPod) with Play Count
* Use Sound Check, a new feature, to instruct iTunes and iPod
to play all of your music at the same sound level
* Listen to Audible audio files (and download them to iPod)
* Try out the new Join Tracks command to import multiple
songs as a single track--great for live performance albums
* Consolidate all of your music in a single folder
* Use contextual menus to choose the columns that appear in a
playlist

What else can you do with iTunes 3?

5. Now iPod Does Windows, Too

Be sure to tell your Windows-using friends.

Now they can enjoy the best MP3 music player in the world and
take their music collection with them wherever they go.

iPod for Windows comes with the leading jukebox software for PCs--
MUSICMATCH Jukebox Plus. So users can easily manage their music library.
Quickly transfer their MP3 library to iPod via FireWire. Automatically
sync with iPod when their music libraries change. And use it to
convert the CDs they own to MP3.

6. Extend Your Digital Life

Now that you're spending more and more time on the Internet, we'd
like to recommend a few Internet essentials for your Mac.

A robust email service offering 15MB of storage for IMAP and POP
mail and the option of retrieving your mail over the web. 100MB of
Internet storage for your photographs, movies, and other digital
files. You'll also appreciate having an easy-to-use web design
and publishing tool. How about a handy backup solution to
protect your valuable files? And you should have a way to protect
your Mac from those viruses that float around the Internet.

Where can you get all of these sharing, protection, and
communications tools for your Mac?

Look no further than .Mac, a new paid membership service from Apple
that seamlessly delivers all of your essential Internet services.

7. Next Tuesday at 3:00 pm, I'll Be...

Make an appointment to meet the newest member of the digital hub.

It's called iCal, and with it, you'll be able to keep better track
of your digital life. Easy to use, iCal lets you create
calendars for yourself, your spouse, your kids, or anyone else whose
schedule you'd like to check.

iCal lets you see multiple calendars at the same time, send "evites"
to appropriate parties via Mac OS X Mail, and drag your calendars to
iPod, so you can check your schedule on the road.

You'll be able to download iCal--which requires Mac OS X v10.2--from
the iCal website in September.
