1. Built for Speed--the New Power Mac G4
Last week, Apple introduced its fastest desktop workstations ever--the new line of Power Mac G4 computers.
Their Xserve-based architecture optimized for dual-processor computing, the Power Mac G4 line features dual processors in every model--dual 867 MHz, 1 GHz, and 1.25 GHz Power PC G4 processors with Velocity Engine--and ships with Mac OS X v10.2 preinstalled, which provides support for symmetric multiprocessing and robust multitasking.
In addition, the new Power Mac G4 computers feature:
* 1MB or 2MB of L3 cache per processor * A faster system controller offering data transfers of up to 167MHz * Support for up to 2GB of Double Data Rate (DDR) memory * The industry's first ATI Radeon 9000 Pro graphics card * Support for dual Apple flat panel displays in all systems * Expansion for up to two optical drives and up to four hard drives with storage for almost half a terabyte of data

2. SuperDrive Comes to eMac
Already the most affordable Macintosh with a PowerPC G4 processor, the eMac has a new distinction: it's now the most affordable Mac for burning DVDs.
That's because at just $1,499 (US), the eMac now comes with Apple's incredible SuperDrive, the optical drive that lets you play CDs and DVDs and burn not only data and audio CDs but also DVDs that play in most commercial DVD players.
We also replaced the CD-RW optical drive in our most affordable eMac with a Combo Drive (DVD-ROM/CD-RW)--at the same affordable $1,099 (US) price. The Combo Drive lets you burn data and audio CDs or watch your favorite DVD movies--like the just released "Lord of the Rings: Fellowship of the Ring."

3. iMac: All Models Now Shipping
Seen the new 17-inch flat-panel iMac yet?
Then you'll want to visit a retail Apple Store location (http://www.apple.com/retail) or an authorized Apple reseller (http://buy.apple.com) to see one for yourself.
All four models of the flat-panel iMac are now shipping, and we've just lowered the price on the 15-inch flat-panel models that come with a CD-RW drive and Combo Drive to $1,299 (US) and $1,499 (US), respectively.
Of course, all flat-panel iMac models feature the PowerPC G4 processor with Velocity Engine and come with iTunes, iMovie, iPhoto, and a wide assortment of other popular software titles that put iMac in the center of your digital lifestyle.

4. Coming Attractions: Sherlock
In Mac OS X v10.2, Sherlock 3 offers Internet services for the rest of us--fast, easy access to the wealth of information available on the web.
Looking for information in the AppleCare Knowledge Base? Click the AppleCare channel, type in your topic, and Sherlock will find a list of articles. You won't even have to start a web browser. You can read the entire article in Sherlock.
Planning a trip to the movies? Sherlock can show you what movies are playing, where they're playing, and when the movies start. Sherlock also offers a synopsis, provides a QuickTime movie trailer (when there is one), gives you the address of the theater, and even lets you purchase tickets online (when available).

5. Tips for Ten: Location Location
When you purchase your copy of Mac OS X v10.2--and you can do so as early as tomorrow evening (http://www.apple.com/events/instore/) --what's the first new feature you'll want to test?
For many people, the Yellow Pages channel tops the long list of features they can't wait to try.
Here's a likely scenario: Say you're craving pizza. Click the Yellow Pages channel, and type "pizza" and your zip code. Faster than you can say "mozzarella," Sherlock will find a list of pizza parlors, their phone numbers, their addresses, and a map to the pizza emporium you choose.
In fact, Sherlock will even offer driving directions. But to get them, you'll first have to tell Sherlock where you are. Here's how. With Sherlock running,
1. Pull down the Sherlock menu and choose Preferences 2. Click, first, the Locations tab; then the Add button 3. Now complete the form
The next time you search the Yellow Pages, Sherlock will offer driving directions.

6. X Hours and Counting
How soon will you be able to purchase your copy of Mac OS X v10.2?

7. Technically Speaking
