New Star Wars Trailer Released Online by Lucasfilm and Apple

Star Wars: Episode I The Phantom Menace Trailer Available on Internet
Exclusively in QuickTime

Lucasfilm and Apple have collaborated to launch the new film trailer for
Lucasfilm's Star Wars: Episode I The Phantom Menace on the Internet
exclusively in QuickTime, Apple's industry-leading multimedia software.
The trailer can be downloaded beginning today, March 11, 1999, a full day
before the release of the trailer to theaters this weekend, at a
jointly-maintained web site reached through www.starwars.com or
www.apple.com. Fans can also download a copy of the latest QuickTime
software from the site. The prior Episode I trailer, also available on
the site, resulted in over 10 million downloads.

"George Lucas wanted to create the highest quality Internet viewing
experience for our new trailer, so we turned to QuickTime because its
sets the standard for Internet video quality," said Lucasfilm's director
of marketing, Jim Ward. "Our collaboration with Apple is enabling us to
push Internet video to its limits, capturing the experience of Episode I
for Star
Wars fans everywhere."

"Where can you view the new Star Wars trailer? Not on Real Networks'
Real Player. Not on Microsoft's Media Player. It's only available on
Apple's QuickTime," said Steve Jobs, Apple's interim CEO. "When you care
about quality, there is only one digital media platform capable of
delivering today, and that's QuickTime."

QuickTime is the industry-leading digital media platform for video on
computers, the Internet and CD-ROMs. QuickTime runs on Macintosh and
Windows computers, and currently supports over 35 popular media file
formats, including most major video, still image, audio, animation, and
MIDI formats. QuickTime is the winner of numerous industry awards and
QuickTime's file format has been chosen as the starting point for ISO's
MPEG-4 Intermedia Format.
