Classic programs evolve from year to year, but Apple's Final Cut Pro is starting life at the head of its class. It is not a "me-too" product, but rather a next-generation video production environment.
Final Cut Pro has a well thought-out set of capabilities that span the whole range of features required of a professional digital video production suite. When installed on a Power Macintosh G3 equipped with FireWire and attached to a DV camera, it offers an end-to-end video creation solution.
This product addresses the needs of the experienced video editing professional at a substantially lower price point than other products in its space. It also opens up the market to the next tier of users, the small studios, and the high-end independent video producers. Non-linear video editing is one of the key applications becoming accessible with today's reasonably priced systems.
Apple's Final Cut Pro does everything for the creative video producer, such as logging, digitizing, and organizing clips; non-linear editing, compositing, and effects; and printing to tape and exporting the finished product.
