Hope I can get back here with the TF 5.7.x I just d/l’d. 5.6.x just crashed instead of logging on. And there was no Apple Internal modem selection in the list. Nor could I edit the init strings, clicking the “OK” button just sounded a beep. Could also just be it needs more memory, seems like each new version of the OS has the same warning, “you may need to increase the memory in the Info window...” We’ll see...
And then, after fighting the phone comapny (again!) I decided to use the 520 to log into the company BBS and guess what I find. Modem Port not available! When (and where) did it go!? Nor could I print anything! Seems the printer has dissapeared from Chooser (again!). A simple restart gets the modem port back.
Not so fast, GI for the printer! Several restarts, cable swaps, reinstall of printer s/w but still no printer in Chooser. I can mount the iMac on the 520, as well as the OS8 CD (thank goodness!), so I know the ethernet works. This is exactly the same problem I had at the very beginning; the Chooser simply couldn’t “see” the printer, UNTIL 4 DAYS LATER it just shows up! Been there ever since, till sometime after yesterday morning!
