- About

MacTubes is YouTube video player and downloader.
You can create playlists and download video files.
It is a free ware :)

- Search and Play

Searching videos

Enter keywords in search fileld and search it.
Displays search results in list.
Change result page by pushing page button.

Playing video

Double click results or preview image.
Open player window and plays video.

Repeat play mode

It can select play mode " Repeat Off" or "Repeat All" or "Repeat One".
You can change play mode in player window or Preferences.

- Related Videos

Searching Related Videos

Select search result and choose "Search" -> "Related Video" from context menu.
Open related search window and display results.

Searching Author`s Videos

Select search result and choose "Search" -> "Authors Video" from context menu.
Open related search window and display results.

- Search Order

You can change order of results from searching by keyword or author`s video..

Relevance	Order by relevance
Date Added	Order by date added
View Count	Order by view count
Rating	Order by rating (Now it is not enabled)

- Time Period

When you search with feeds, you can change time period at some feeds.

Today	At today
This Week	At this week
This Month	At this month
All Time	At all time

- Results Order

You can change order of results from searching playlist.

Added Newly	Order by added newly.
Added Older	Order by added older.
Title Ascending	Order by ascending title.
Title Descending	Order by descending title.

Exclude Filter

If you do not want to include videos of author or keywords in search results, add author ID or keyword for excluding.
You can add words in Preferences -> "Filter" tab.

YouTube Player

You can change settings of YouTube player.
Change in Preferences -> "Player" tab.

Auto Start	Auto start at playing.
Live Resize	Live Resize video at resizing player window.
Show Information	Show video information at playing
Show Related Videos	Show related videos. If you disable it, "Search Box" is disabled too.
Show Search Box	Shows search box.
Turn Off Annotations	Turn off annotations

- HD Video Settings

You can change settings of searching / playing HD video.
Change in Preferences -> "HD" tab.

Search HD Video is Available	It shows "HD" or "HD/1080" label in thumbnail image, if HD video is available. This uses more memory and network bandwidth to access YouTube site for checking that HD format video is available by each results. If you don't need to search HD videos, I recommend that disable it.
Always Play HD Video	It plays HD video when it is available. It plays only "720p" format because MacTubes uses embed player.

- Playlist

You can create playslist, and search videos from playlist.

Creating playlist.

Push [+] button and choose "New Playlist".
If you want to edit title, choose "Edit" from context menu.

Deleting playlist.

Push [-] button or choose "Delete" from context menu.

Adding videos to playlist.

Drop search results to playlist.
Double click list, always searches added videos.

Deleting videos from playlist.

Select search results and push DELETE key or choose "Delete" from context menu.

- Search List

Creating Keyword List.

Push [+] button and choose "New Search" -> "Keyword".
Enter keyword for searching.
Double click list, always searches with keyword.

Creating Author List.

Push [+] button and choose "New Search" -> "Author".
Enter author ID for searching.
Double click list, always searches author`s video.

- Standard Feed

Creating Standard Feed List.

Push [+] button and choose "New Feed" -> Your favorite feed.
Double click list, always searches with feed.
If you want to edit title, choose "Edit" from context menu.

Top Favorites

- Play History

Played video is saved as a history.
Choose "View" -> "History" from main menu and open history window.
You can play videos from history window.
Drop item to playlist, you can add videos to playlist.

- Open Video ID or URL

You can play video from video ID or URL.
Choose "File" -> "Open Video" from main menu.
Enter video ID or URL.

- Open Video With Command
You can play video with open command from Terminal app or Apple Script.
If exists older version (before v2.3), it may not works well.

Format	open -a "VIDEO URL"

- Import / Export Playlist

Import

Select "File" -> "Import Playlist.." from main menu.
Select file from exported playlist.

Export

Export all playlists, select "File" -> "Export Playlist.." from main menu.
Export each playlists, select playlist or folder and choose "Export.." from context menu.

- Download Files

You can download video files.
Select search result and choose "Download" -> "FLV" or "MP4" or "HD" from context menu.
You can "start" downloading max 5 files at the same time.
If you want to download more files, please start downloading in several times.
There is no limit for downloaing at the same time.
There is the case that can not download from file URL.

- Country Setting

When you selected country, search from country (Only standard feeds).
You can change country in main menu or Preferences.
I recommend to select your country.
This is not enabled of searching with keyword or author`s video.

- Safe Search

You can limit contents in search results.
Select menu "Safe Search" in Preferences.

None	Not limit.
Strict	Limit strictly.
Moderate	Limit moderately.

- Shortcut Keys

Space	Open player window and plays video.
cmd + ] / [	Forward / Back result page.
cmd + T	Open player window.
cmd + R	Open related search window.
cmd + I	Open information panel.
cmd + D	Open downloads window.
cmd + G	Open play history window.
cmd + opt + 3	Show results as list view.
cmd + opt + 4	Show results as grid view.

cmd + F	Go to / Exit full screen.
cmd + shift + F	Show / Hide Controller (bottom of window) in full screen mode.
cmd + shift + T	Change always on top. (Player window).
ESC	Exit full screen

cmd + N	Add new playlist.
cmd + shift + N	Add new folder.
cmd + K	Add new keyword list.
cmd + J	Add new author list.
cmd + O	Open video ID or URL.
cmd + shift + I	Import playlist.
cmd + shift + E	Export all playlists.
DELETE	Delete items from playlist.

Go to selected page.

- FAQ

Q.	Can not play video.
A.	Some videos are not allowed to play from embed URL. Open video URL with web browser.

Q.	Can not download video file.
A.	There is the case that can not download from file URL. In downloads window, choose "Copy URL" from context menu and download using web browser.

Q.	Result status is "Now Searching.." or "Not Found" at searching with playlist.
A1.	There is the case that can not get video information by server responses. Please try to search again.
A2.	There is the case that can not get video information from server depending on video is deleted or author`s account is stopped. Open video URL or user profile with web browser.

Q.	When I played video with "High (MP4)" or "HD (MP4)"format, "Replay" icon is displayed in player window.
A.	If you checked on "Auto Start" in Preferences, sometimes this case happens. Click "Replay" icon and it will play correctly.

Q.	I want to increase count of max results.
A.	Count of results is max 50 by specification for searching from YouTube.

Q.	After displaying as glid view, details in popup are not correctly.
A.	This is known issue. Please scroll or resize frame or window, it is displayed correctly.

Q.	Caused Following error. Domain=com.google.GDataServiceDomain Code=406 UserInfo=XXXXXX "Operation could not be completed. (com.google.GDataServiceDomain error 406.)"
A.	Probably YouTube server changed setting or caused any problem temporarily. Some user reported that an error did not happen by waiting for a while(Two or three days?).

Q.	Support exporting audio file or converting other format?
A.	It needs high CPU performance. So, there is a possibility that it cannot play and search comfortably I'm not going to support it. Please use other software.

Q.	Support other video service? (ex.Google Video)
A.	MacTubes uses API which YouTube provides. Therefore a comfortable searching and playing are enabled. As for the other video service, API is not provided. Therefore it is difficult to support.

- Known issues

Search results by "Rating" is not correct.
When canceled downloading at quiting application, file is not deleted which is not finished downloading.
In other case, plaese read FAQ section.
