I’m having bluetooth scanning problems

Scanners are finicky beings and occasionally they do have problems. However, most of these problems can be fixed by simply replacing the batteries and/or resetting the scanner.

We’ll skip the directions on how to replace the batteries — but make sure you do use high-quality, fresh batteries.

To reset the scanner:

Find the manual that came with your scanner, and scan the barcode under the label 'Return to Factory Defaults'. If you’ve lost the manual, you can download the PDF version here:

ROV Manual: http://www.microvision.com/pdfs/ROV_Scanner_Quick_Start_Guide.pdf

Open System Preferences and choose Bluetooth under the Hardware section. Under the Devices tab, look for a device named CORDLESS and delete it.

You will be asked if you wish to remove the device, you do.

Open Delicious Library 2, and from the Library menu, unselect, then reselect Wireless Barcode Scanner

Press the button on the scanner one time, and then wait a minute. The scanner should pair on its own.

The icon should appear next to Wireless Barcode Scanner in the Library menu.

If your scanner isn't showing up in System Preferences as a Device, try Set up new device and use the passcode "0000", then try scanning again.

Note: In the original Delicious Library there was a little bluetooth button at the bottom of the application when the scanner was paired. We’ve removed this button from Version 2, but the scanner will work in the same way.
