How to manually sort your library

Usually when people ask about sorting manually, it's because they want to sort by something, but not by one of the included fields — often using their personal cataloguing system. Try using the Location in Building field to store whatever your personal cataloging system is, and sort by that.

The other reason you might want to sort manually is because an item may sort out of order. Computers are very good at sorting, so if something is out of order, there’s usually an error in the data, not in the sorting method. Editing the data (for example removing a blank space from before a title that is incorrectly sorting to the beginning of your library) will often solve the problem.

Unfortunately there isn’t a way to just drag an item to a different location. If you can’t figure out why your library is sorting the way it is, or you want to suggest a better method, please contact us!
