TWS TIP FOR PROGRAMMERS --- Dick Trissel, Central Coast CUG It ' s not obvious, but for The Write Stuff word processor program there is an implied modification provided in the " BB " BASIC loader program. Load " BB " and list it. The first two lines are : 10 POKE787, 0 0 = TITLE / MENU, 1 = BB WRITER, 2 = BB TALKER This means that whatever number is after the comma in line ten will determine the program loading procedure. A 0 will load the menu, bee and music ; a 1 load BB Writer directly ; and a 2 would load BB Talker directly ( C = 64 version only ). TWS MACROS ------- Alice Shipley, The CHUG Bulletin, June 1990 One of the features of The Write Stuff, is the ability to use macros already included in the program, and to make your own. A Macro is defining 1 or more keys to print out entire words or phrases, by typing only 1 or 2 characters. You can do this with The Write Stuff, just sit down with your manual and go through it. When using The Write Stuff with macros turned on, you type just 1 or 2 characters and hit the space bar, but there are times when you may wish to use one of those pre - defined characters without having the macro printed ( turn the macros off ). You can of course, turn the macros off, enter the character, then turn the macros back on again ( see manual for command to do this ). There is an easier way says Terry Parsons, writing in the Commodore Mailink, just type the character you want, followed by a shifted space instead of a regular space.
