COMPOSITE TO RGBI CONVERSION BY: JOHN DENSMORE FROM: COMMODORE CLUB SOUTH, INC. Are you thinking about upgrading your C-64 to a C-128, and are wanting or needing an 80 column output? Is the system price holding you back? The cost of a computer, RGBI monitor, disk drive, too much? Well, your present 1541 or equivalent disk drive will work with the C-128. What about the composite monitor you own? You can purchase a RGBI cable to use with your monitor, but the quality of the text on the screen is very lacking in readibility. There is a company in Florida who has taken care of this problem for you. Digitek, Inc., offers a RGBI conversion kit for most composite monitors. This kit includes a good installation manual, a half-wired circuit board, plus the hook-up wire. The installation is not too difficult if you can solder, follow directions (with pictorials) and are either familiar with electronics or know someone who is. I have installed this kit on my own composite monitor and am very pleased with the quality of the video output. Since this kit uses the chroma-luma inputs, you may have to rewire your composite cable for 40 column viewing. For those of you with Commodore 1702 monitors this can be accomplished quite easily by just using the front video/audio inputs. For those of you whose budget may be a tid bit tight, this is the way to go. The kit is available for $49.95 (plus C.O.D.) from Digitek, Inc., 10415 North Florida Avenue, Suite 410, Tampa, Fl. 33612; or call (813)933-8023. For those who may have any problems during installation they also have a technical support line. [PRESS RETURN]:
